Treasury: U.S. Gov’t Ran $45.7B Surplus in Sept.

The federal government posted a $45.7 billion surplus in September, according to Treasury Department figures released yesterday.

The government took in $272.445 billion in receipts, while spending $226.720 billion.

For the fiscal year to date, the government is running a $454.806 billion deficit, compared to a $161.527 billion shortage at this point last year.
