Muni Minute: Market eyes the future of Illinois’ credit

After two years Illinois finally got a budget, but this week the municipal bond market will be eying the state’s credit rating. Moody’s has Illinois on review for possible downgrade after the Land of Lincoln narrowly averted a cut to junk by S&P and Fitch. Traders will also be looking at the state’s bond spreads, which have been fluctuating widely during the recent budget crises.
