The federal government ran a $192.6 billion deficit in February the Treasury Department reported Thursday.
The February deficit followed a $55.2 billion budget surplus in January.
The February deficit was smaller than the median $200.0 billion deficit predicted by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.
Outlays in February totaled $361.761 billion. Receipts totaled $169.147 billion.
In February 2015, the government ran a $192.4 billion deficit.
For the fiscal year to date, the government has a $353.0 billion deficit, compared to a $386.6 billion deficit for the similar period on fiscal 2015.
