U.S. Government Ran $108.0 Billion Deficit in March

The federal government ran a $108.0 billion deficit in March the Treasury Department reported Tuesday.

The March deficit followed a $192.6 billion budget deficit in February.

The March deficit was larger than the median $104 billion deficit predicted by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.

Outlays in March totaled $335.891 billion. Receipts totaled $227.848 billion.

In March 2015, the government ran a $52.9 billion deficit.

For the fiscal year to date, the government has a $461.0 billion deficit, compared to a $439.5 billion deficit for the similar period on fiscal 2015.
