U. of Mich. Nov. Index at 64.2 vs. 60.9 in Oct.

NEW YORK - The University of Michigan's preliminary November consumer sentiment index reading was 64.2, compared to the final October 60.9, the preliminary October 57.5, and the final September 59.4, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 56.2, compared to 51.8 in October, 47.0 earlier in October, and 49.4 in September.

The current conditions index was 76.6, compared to 75.1 in October, 73.8 earlier in October, and 74.9 in September.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 61.3 reading for the main index, 74.9 for current conditions and 52.2 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.6% compared to 2.7% in October, 2.9% in September, and 2.9% in August, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.2%, compared to 3.2% in October, 3.3% in September, and 3.5% in August.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
