Toledo Goes Alternative

The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority last week approved an inducement resolution to issue up to $10 million of taxable revenue bonds to finance a pair of alternative energy projects located in Toledo.

Proceeds from the bond issue would finance construction of a wind turbine and solar-panel facility that would create up to 60% of the electricity used by one of the city’s water treatment plants, according to local reports. It remains uncertain whether the city or a private party would own the plants.

Revenues from the city’s water and sewer system would pay off the debt.
