Technology Impact Focus of Next Philly Analysts Meeting

Citigroup municipal strategist George Friedlander is delivering a presentation about how evolving technology is impacting the public finance industry at the Nov. 19 meeting of the Philadelphia Area Municipal Analyst Society.

Friedlander, who is chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Municipal Bonds for America Coalition, will be discussing the rapid technology advances at the event hosted by the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. Friedlander cited in an April report that he anticipates as many as 47% of all jobs will eventually face direct competition from automation and robotics.

“Governments will need to consider how these trends will affect tax revenues, labor markets, transportation infrastructure and all levels of education,” said Tom Kozlik, president of PhAMAS and managing director and municipal strategist in the PNC Municipal Capital Markets Group. “The municipal bond analyst community needs to be in front of these changes.”

The Nov. 19 PhAMAS meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in the Arch Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania on 3601 Locust Walk, Philadelphia. For further information or to sign up, click here.
