Sales Tax Allocations Down

The Oklahoma Tax Commission distributed $102 million in local sales tax collections to 505 cities and towns in March, down $7 million from the $109 million distributed in March 2009.

The revenue represent purchases sales from Jan. 16 to Jan. 13, and estimated sales from Feb. 1 to Feb. 15. Sales tax distributions included $25 million to Oklahoma City, down from $26.7 million in March 2009. Tulsa received $14.9 million, down from $16.9 million in 2009.

The commission also distributed $6.5 million in use tax revenue to 367 cities and towns. Seventy-five counties received $21.7 million in sales tax disbursements, while $1.3 million of use tax revenues was distributed among 69 counties.

Tulsa County received $6.9 million of sales tax revenue, down from $7.7 million in March 2009. Oklahoma County does not have a county sales tax.
