Revised Revenue Forecast

The Louisiana Revenue Estimating Conference on Monday accepted a forecast by state economists that general fund revenue for fiscal 2010 would total $7.28 billion.

The revised total is $261.4 million less than expected in April and $2.1 billion less than collected in fiscal 2009. The fiscal year ends June 30.

The REC reduced the official estimate for fiscal 2011 revenue to $7.72 billion from the April estimate of $7.78 billion. It also officially certified the use of $198 million from the budget stabilization fund and $242 million from a tax amnesty program to balance the budgets for fiscal 2010 and 2011.

In an unusual move, the official action by the conference took place a day after the Legislature adopted balanced-budget measures that relied on the additional funds.
