The University of Michigan's preliminary June consumer sentiment index reading was 94.6, compared to the final May 90.7, and the preliminary May 88.6, according to market sources.
The expectations index was 86.8, compared to the final May 84.2, and the preliminary May 81.5.
The current conditions index was 106.8, compared to the final May 100.8, and the preliminary May 99.8.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 91.5 reading for the main index, 100.0 for current conditions, and 85.0 for expectations.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.8% in May, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.8% in May.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
