Philadelphia Fed Non-Mfg Regional Index Grows to 15.4 in Aug.

The region's non-manufacturing sector climbed in August, as the general business conditions index increased to 15.4 from 8.1 in July, this month's Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Report on Business indicates.

At the company level, the general business activity index rose to 7.7 from 2.7.

The prices paid index was 23.1, up from 18.9 last month, new orders index grew to positive 10.3 from negative 5.4, sales or revenues increased to positive 5.1 from negative 21.6, the unfilled orders index rose to positive 5.1 from negative 2.7, the inventories index gained to positive 5.1 from negative 2.7, prices received gained to 10.3 from 5.4, the number of full time employees index surged to 15.4 from 5.4, the number of part time employees index widened to negative 5.1 from negative 2.7, and the average employee workweek climbed to 10.3 from zero.

The six months from now regional general business conditions index fell to 79.5 from 81.1, while the company general business conditions index increased to 87.2 from 62.2.
