The Housing Partnership Development Corp. has received the 2016 Not-for-Profit Partner of the Year Award for Excellence from the New York Association for Affordable Housing.
The association awards organizations annually for excellence in affordable housing development and construction, as well as advocacy and partnership.
"As we endeavor to expand affordable housing opportunities for New Yorkers we have worked closely with the association and its members, including developers, affordable housing advocates and financial institutions, for many years," said Dan Martin, the partnership's president and chief executive.
A 10-year plan to finance the creation and preservation of 200,000 affordable units across the five boroughs is one of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's major first-term initiatives.
The Housing Partnership Development Corp. assists in the development, promotion and revitalization of affordable rental and homeownership housing through specialized programs and services.
Since its inception in 1982, the nonprofit group has been the city's primary intermediary for the development and preservation of affordable housing citywide. It will celebrate its 34th anniversary on Nov. 10 at a gala luncheon at Gotham Hall in Manhattan. U.S. Rep. Steve Israel is the guest of honor.
