Milwaukee ISM Index Slides to 48.1 in April

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business decreased to 48.1 in April from 53.3 in March, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Tuesday.

New orders received gained to 57.4 from 54.4, production slumped to 45.1 from 52.7, employment dropped to 52.6 from 46.1, supplier deliveries grew to 38.6 from 60.0, and backlog of orders fell to 46.7 from 50.0.

Inventory levels dropped to 46.7 from 52.9, customers' inventories dipped to 46.4 from 46.9, prices rebounded to 36.7 from 32.4, exports fell to 40.9 from 45.8 and imports decreased to 54.2 from 54.6.

The blue collar diffusion index gained to 52.6 from 51.6, while the white collar diffusion index slid to 44.6 from 46.1.
