Milwaukee ISM Index Rises to 48.5 in Dec.

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business gained to 48.5 in December from 45.3 in November, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Thursday.

New orders received surged to 50.3 from 39.6, production grew to 50.3 from 47.1, employment increased to 51.7 from 48.2, supplier deliveries slid to 44.0 from 48.9, and backlog of orders dropped to 32.1 from 39.3.

Inventory levels gained to 46.4 from 42.9, customers' inventories slipped to 46.4 from 50.0, prices increased to 25.0 from 21.4, exports fell to 45.0 from 50.0 and imports remained at 50.0.

The blue collar diffusion index climbed to 55.5 from 44.5, while the white collar diffusion index rose to 55.5 from 51.9.
