Construction spending decreased 0.6% in March, the Commerce Department said Friday, and is 2.0% above the March 2014 level.
In February, construction spending was flat, first reported as a 0.1% decrease.
Spending on private construction slid 0.3% in the month, while public construction dropped 1.5%.
Residential construction dropped 1.6%.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a 0.5% increase in construction spending.
