NEW YORK – About 4,760,500 online job postings appeared on leading Internet job boards in April, an increase of 90,900 from March, the Conference Board reported Monday.
“Labor demand continues its five-month upward trend, which has averaged about 113,000 vacancies per month,” said June Shelp, vice president at the Conference Board. “This is welcome news for unemployed workers or those looking to change jobs.”
The Supply/Demand rate for the U.S. in March (the latest month for which the national unemployment number is available) stood at 2.71, indicating that there are slightly less than 3 unemployed workers for every online advertised vacancy. Nationally, there are 8 million more unemployed workers than advertised vacancies, the Conference Board said.
