Jobless Claims Drop 9,000 to 363,000 in Week Ended Oct. 27

Initial jobless claims, seasonally adjusted, slid 9,000 to 363,000 in the week ended October 27, from an upwardly revised 372,000 the week before.

Claims for the week ended October 20 were initially reported as 369,000.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 370,000 claims in the week.

The 4-week moving average was 367,250, down 1,500 from the previous week's revised average of 368,750, first reported as 368,000.

Continuing claims rose 4,000 to 3,263,000 in the week ended October 20. The October 13 number was revised to 3,259,000 from 3,254,000.

Economists expected 3,250,000 continuing claims.
