ISM-NY Current Business Index Shows Expansion

New York City business activity expanded in December, the first expansion in three months, as the current business conditions index improved to 51.1 in December from 47.2 in November, according to the Institute for Supply Management-New York’s Report on Business current business conditions index.

A reading above 50.0 indicates expansion.

The report’s six-month outlook index decreased to 63.7 from 71.0. The NY-BCI crept to 534.0 from 533.5.

The prices paid composite index grew to 55.4 this month from 48.9 last month, the quantity of purchases composite index fell to 48.3 from 54.3, and the supplier delivery time diffusion index climbed to 54.0 from 52.4. Employment slumped to 46.6 from 52.1.

ISM-New York said the Report on Business will be released on the second business day of the month at 9:45 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, beginning in February.
