Hospital in Growth Spurt

Conway Regional Medical Center is embarking on a $25 million capital project program that will include expansion of the hospital’s women’s center, construction of a new surgery department, and enlargement of the facility’s utility plant to provide power to the 58,000 square feet of new space. The work is to be completed in December 2009.

A hospital spokesman said details of the financing have not been finalized but most of it will be provided from the proceeds of tax-exempt bonds.

Conway is located in Faulkner County, about 30 miles north of Little Rock.

The initial phase of the project includes a two-story addition that can be expanded to six floors when additional space is required. The expansion includes nine operating rooms, two of which would be unfinished until needed, and eight new obstetrics rooms.
