Georgia Gas Authority to get new CEO

Scott Tolleson is expected to become the CEO of the Georgia Gas Authority on Jan. 1, 2026.

The Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia will replace its president and chief executive officer on January 1.

The authority said President and CEO Arthur Corbin will retire at the end of this year after 31 years in the role and Chief Membership Service Officer Scott Tolleson will replace him.

In his current role, Tolleson is responsible for member services, government affairs and economic development. He has been with the Gas Authority since 1996.

The Gas Authority had $13.5 billion in limited obligation debt, through pre-paid natural gas bonds, as of December 31. It also had about $70 million in other short-term and long-term debt.

Much of the Gas Authority debt is issued by Main Street Natural Gas, Inc.

Main Street is considered a blended component unit of the Gas Authority under governmental accounting standards and is included in the Gas Authority's financial statements, according to the authority's 2024 financial statement.

The Gas Authority also manages Public Gas Partners, which provides natural gas reserves and gas supply and commodity swap services to prepay transactions and Public Energy Partners, which also provides gas supply and commodity swap services to prepay transactions.

The Gas Authority says it is is the largest non-profit natural gas joint-action agency in the United States, serving 85 member entities in Georgia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Florida, which meet the gas needs of over 275,000 customers. Additionally, the authority provides services to 19 other agencies and public systems, called municipal customers.
