Melanie Her has been named a director in Fitch Ratings' U.S. non-profit hospitals and health systems rating group.

Based in San Francisco, Melanie will report to sector head Kevin Holloran and be Fitch's primary West Coast healthcare analyst.

"Melanie brings vast experience across healthcare bond ratings and legal analysis and provides Fitch with a valuable presence in California's active healthcare market,” Holloran said.

Her primary focus will be acute-care hospitals and health systems throughout the Western United States.

“The Western region is an important market for Fitch and Melanie's energy and direct healthcare experience in the region is a valuable asset,” said Jessalynn Moro, Fitch's head of U.S. public finance.

Prior to joining Fitch, Her was with S&P Global Ratings where she was responsible for management and analysis for a portfolio of healthcare issuer credit ratings. She also spent several years with JP Morgan Chase as a senior credit risk manager and portfolio analyst.

She holds several degrees including a masters of Jurisprudence in business law and corporate governance from Loyola Chicago School of Law and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.
