Final Oct. U. of Mich. Index at 90.0 vs. 87.2 in Sept.

The University of Michigan's final October consumer sentiment index reading was 90.0, compared to the preliminary October 92.1, and the final September 87.2, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 82.1, compared to the preliminary October 82.7, and the final September 78.2.

The current conditions index was 102.3, compared to the preliminary October 106.7, and the final September 101.2.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 92.5 reading for the main index, 107.0 for current conditions, and 83.1 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.5%, compared to 2.7% in September, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.8% in September.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
