The University of Michigan's final January consumer sentiment index reading was 92.0, compared to the preliminary January 93.3, and the final December 92.6, according to market sources.
The expectations index was 82.7, compared to the preliminary January 85.7, and the final December 82.7.
The current conditions index was 106.4, compared to the preliminary January 105.1, and the final December 108.1.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 93.0 reading for the main index, 84.5 for expectations and 105.5 for current conditions.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.6% in December, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.5%, compared to 2.6% in December.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
