The University of Michigan's final December consumer sentiment index reading was 92.6, compared to the preliminary December 91.8, and the final November 93.1, according to market sources.
The expectations index was 82.7, compared to the preliminary December 82.0, and the final November 82.9.
The current conditions index was 108.1, compared to the preliminary December 107.0, and the final November 104.3, and the preliminary November 104.8.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 92.0 reading for the main index, 82.0 for expectations and 106.5 for current conditions.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.6% in November, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.7% in November.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
