Final April U. of Mich. Index at 95.9 vs. 93.0 in March

The University of Michigan's final April consumer sentiment index reading was 95.9, compared to the preliminary April 95.9, the final March 93.0, and the preliminary March 91.2, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 88.8, compared to the preliminary April 88.0, the final March 85.3, and the preliminary March 83.7.

The current conditions index was 107.0, compared to the preliminary April 108.2, the final March 105.0, and the preliminary March 103.0.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 96.0 reading for the main index, 108.3 for current conditions, and 88.1 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.8% in March, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 3.0% in March.
