The University of Michigan’s final January consumer sentiment index reading was 75.0, compared to the preliminary January 74.0 reading, the final December 69.9 and the preliminary December 67.7, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 69.1, up from 68.4 earlier in the month, 63.6 in December and 61.1 earlier in the month.

The current conditions index was 84.2, compared to 82.6 earlier in January, 79.6 in December and 77.9 earlier in December.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 74.0 reading for the main index, 83.0 for current conditions and 68.4 for expectations.
