Consumer Confidence Index Slides to 70.8

The consumer confidence index dipped to 70.2 in March from an upwardly revised 71.6 last month, the Conference Board reported Tuesday.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted the index would be 70.0.

The February index was originally reported as 70.8.

The present situation index rose to 51.0 from an upwardly revised 46.4, while the expectations index fell to 83.0 from an upwardly revised 88.4.
