Calcasieu Parish School District No. 30 is asking voters to approve a bond authorization of $37.5 million to build a new elementary school, add classrooms to eight schools, and renovate another nine facilities. The election is set for Nov. 17.District 30, which is located in southwest Louisiana and includes most of the city of Sulphur, serves an estimated population of 32,500.The district’s general obligation bonds are rated A-minus by Standard & Poor’s.If voters approve the bond package, the district will build the first new elementary school to replace an existing facility in the Sulphur area since 1967.
