BRADENTON, Fla. – A public finance lawyer is among the three new partners McGuireWoods LLP brought aboard in its Raleigh, N.C., office.

Mary Nash Rusher brings three decades of experience representing bond issuers, banks and underwriters in financing transactions for counties, cities, local school districts and colleges, according to the firm.

She represents clients in tax-exempt and tax-advantaged transactions, traditional government financings, and innovative financing strategies such as new markets tax credits and public-private partnerships.

The Best Lawyers in America recognized Rusher as the Raleigh Public Finance “Lawyer of the Year” for 2015.

Rusher received a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and her law degree from the University of Virginia. She was previously a partner at Hunton & Williams LLP, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She is a member of the American College of Bond Attorneys, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the Women in the Profession Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. She was also a member of the Commission on PPPs for the North Carolina General Assembly from 2010 to 2011.

Also joining the firm in Raleigh are Jean Gordon Carter, an estate planning and tax lawyer, and Charles Case, who joins the firm’s regulatory and compliance practice, which focuses on environmental and administrative law matters and litigation.

The addition of the trio continues McGuireWoods’ growth across the country, officials said in an announcement Monday.

“Our lawyers are very familiar with the work of Mary Nash, Jean and Charles and their contributions to the community,” said managing partner Thomas E. Cabaniss. “These are three of the most accomplished lawyers in North Carolina and we are thrilled they have brought their many talents and their commitment to service to McGuireWoods.”

Last year, McGuireWoods ranked sixth as bond counsel in the Southeast working on transactions valued at $2.52 billion, according to statistics provided by Thomson Reuters.
