About 3,362,500 online job postings appeared on leading Internet job boards in January, 184,800 fewer than the 3,547,300 posted in December, a 5% drop, largely attributable to seasonal factors, the Conference Board reported yesterday.
In January, there were 2.2 online job ads per 100 persons in the U.S. labor force. Of the 3,362,500 unduplicated ads in January, 2,223,100 were new. On a year-over-year basis, online job ads increased 7.0%, while new ads rose 11.8%. The Conference Board launched the Help-Wanted OnLine Data series in April 2005.
