Puerto Rico's Rossell- Appoints Marrero Rosado to Oversee Budget

Puerto Rico Governor–Elect Ricardo Rossell- named José Marrero Rosado to oversee the government's Office of Management and Budget.

"He better get up to speed quickly," said Advantage Business Consulting president Vicente Feliciano. "The fiscal plan should be submitted to the Fiscal Oversight Board by the middle of January. This guy is critical in the write-up of the plan."

As director of the OMB Marrero Rosado, a certified public accountant, will be the government's chief budget officer. Marrero Rosado has 15 years of experience in finance, accounting, law, and energy, according to a statement from Rossell-. He has a background in programming and information systems.

In the private sector Marrero Rosado worked as Latin America operations manager for Pentagon Federal Credit Union, executive president of the San Juan Federal Credit Union, and chief financial officer at insurance agencies.

In the public sector the appointee worked in positions at the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, including comptroller, trustee of the employee retirement system, and member of the Permanent Bidding Committee.

Marrero Rosado has a bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting and a Juris Doctor degree from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, both degrees conferred magna cum laude.

Luis Cruz Batista is the current director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Rossell- will be sworn into office on Monday, Jan. 2.
