Frank Jezycki will become vice president and chief officer for Staten Island Railway effective immediately, New York City Transit president Carmen Bianco announced.

The railway is a unit of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's New York City Transit.

Jezycki began his NYC Transit career in 1985 as a maintenance helper within the ventilation and drainage department. For the past 25 years, he has held varying supervisory and managerial positions of increasing responsibility within the department of subways.

Most recently, Jezycki was chief infrastructure officer of the subways department. According to an MTA announcement on Aug. 5, Jezycki's role was critical in the recovery and rebuilding following Hurricane Sandy, and new technology projects.

The railway includes 22 stations between the St. George ferry terminal and Tottenville.

"There are many exciting things happening at the Staten Island Railway - from added service to coincide with an enhanced ferry schedule to a new Arthur Kill Station coming in 2015," Jezycki said.
