Mesirow Financial is venturing into Indiana with the opening of an office in downtown Indianapolis and hired Greg Clark to lead the effort.

Clark has been hired as a managing director for the firm's Indiana based public finance group, the firm said in a press release Wednesday. He is a former executive director of Indianapolis Local Public Improvement Bond Bank and a licensed attorney in Indiana.

Clark will report to Todd Waldrop, head of Mesirow Financial's public finance group.

"We are delighted to add someone of [Clark's] caliber to our team," Waldrop said in a statement. "His addition complements our strong Midwest roots and will allow Mesirow Financial to expand and better serve our client base throughout Indiana and Kentucky."

In his new position, Clark will focus on expanding the firm's business in the state of Indiana and is responsible for covering municipal clients in Indiana and Kentucky. "As a licensed attorney in Indiana and a former executive director of Indianapolis Local Public Improvement Bond Bank, Greg has established meaningful relationships with large and middle-market Indiana issuers, attorneys and other public finance professionals," said Syreeta Strickland, a spokesperson for Mesirow.

Mesirow intends to build out the Indiana team. The Chicago based firm now has public finance offices in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, Houston and Indianapolis. It is exploring strategic opportunities to expand in key markets across the country, according to Strickland.
