Final February U. of Mich. Index at 95.4 vs. 98.1 in January

The University of Michigan's final February consumer sentiment index reading was 95.4, compared to the preliminary February 93.6, and the final January 98.1, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 88.0, compared to the preliminary February 87.5, and the final January 91.0.

The current conditions index was 106.9, compared to the preliminary February 103.1, and the final January 109.3.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 94.0 reading for the main index, 103.0 for current conditions, and 87.8 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.8% in January, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.5% in January.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
