S.C. Housing Boss Tapped for Fed Home Loan Advisory Council

Valarie Williams, director of the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority, has been appointed to the Affordable Housing Advisory Council of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. Her three-year appointment began Jan. 1.

“It is an honor to serve on the FHLBank Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council,” Williams said. “I will strive to use my experience in the affordable housing industry to provide valuable insight that will advance affordable housing in the Southeast.”

The FHL bank’s mission is to increase homeownership, affordable housing and economic development in the Southeast.

The Advisory Council’s 15 members come from various housing and community development organizations, and provide guidance on affordable housing needs, policy, and finance.

Williams has served as executive director of South Carolina’s housing authority since December 2007.

She oversees nine federal and state housing programs.
