WASHINGTON — Initial jobless claims fell slightly to 428,000 for the week ending June 25, down from an unrevised 429,000 the week before, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The whole claims report was barely changed from the previous week’s figures.
Continuing claims fell to 3.702 million for the week ending June 18 from a revised 3.714 million reported for the previous week.
Economists expected 420,000 initial claims and 3.690 million continuing claims, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.
The four-week moving average for initial claims was 426,750, a small increase from the revised 426,250 last week. The four-week average for continuing claims fell to 3.704 million.
