Debt Eyed to Finish Trail

Macomb County officials are considering issuing $20 million to complete a 70-mile hiking and biking trail.

The county would issue recovery zone economic development bonds for the project, officials said.

Macomb’s RZEDB volume cap is $46 million, of which about $7 million has already been allocated.

The county is also applying for a grant from Michigan, local reports said. The trail reportedly needs another 24 miles to be complete.
