Treasury: U.S. Ran $94.3 Billion Deficit in June

The federal government posted a $94.3 billion deficit in June, according to Treasury Department figures released yesterday.

Thomson Reuters had predicted a $97.0 billion deficit for the month. The June deficit followed a $189.7 billion deficit in May.

The government took in $215.4 billion in receipts, while spending $309.7 billion.

Receipts on personal income taxes totaled $92.9 billion, bringing the total to $685.5 billion in the current fiscal year. Also, corporation income tax receipts totaled $32.5 billion, bringing the year-to-date total to $101.9 billion.

For the fiscal year to date, the government is running a $1.086 trillion deficit, compared to a $285.8 billion shortfall at this point last year.
