“Atif Saeed has the business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit needed to strengthen, expand and diversify revenue streams in order to enhance financial stability throughout our organization,” MAC executive director Brian Ryks said in a statement this week.

MAC owns and operates the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and six general aviation airports in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Saeed will oversee the department that manages commission finances and debt, reporting to chief financial officer Steve Busch who had long held the VP of finance position. The commission operates on a $350 million annual budget and plans to spend about $455 million on capital improvements this year. The commission carries AA-minus-level ratings on its senior lien airport revenue bonds.

Saeed previously served as MAC’s assistant director of MSP airport operations – landside. In that role, he managed MSP’s parking enterprise and ground transportation services, which together generate nearly $113 million a year. Previously, he was director of transportation at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and parking systems manager for the city of Minneapolis.
