Initial jobless claims for the week ending April 17 are released by the Labor Department.

Existing home sales for March are released by the National Association of Realtors

The Treasury will announce the auction for $12 billion of five-year Treasury Inflation Protected Securities, $44 billion of two-year notes, $42 billion of five-year notes and $32 billion of seven-year notes.

Durable goods figures for March are released by the Commerce Department.

New home sales figures for March are released by the Commerce Department.
