While Springsted’s human resources consulting practice has been active in the Southeast, the firm has not focused on public and operational finance until now, he said.

“The Atlanta office will provide issuers in the Southeast the entire portfolio of services offered by Springsted,” King said.

King previously was managing director at Kidwell & Co., and ran its Georgia office.

At Springsted, King said he will continue providing financial advice to cities, counties, development agencies, public utilities and school districts, while also offering the firm’s services in executive search, compensation, housing, economic development and investments.

King is a regular presenter on public finance matters at economic development, affordable housing and public utility conferences.

He serves on the advisory board of the Georgia State University Center for State and Local Government Finance, is a frequent speaker for the Georgia Rural Water Association, and has written articles for the Georgia Municipal Association.

He received a bachelor’s degree and Masters of Business Administration from Tennessee Technological University.

Springsted is an independent public sector advisory firm with headquarters in St. Paul, Minn.

The firm also has offices in Dallas, Tex.; Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee, Wis; Kansas City, Mo.; Richmond, Va.; and Denver, Colo.
