Regions Financial Taps Marson As Senior Corporate Trust VP

BRADENTON, Fla. - Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions Financial Corp. has hired Kurt Marson as senior vice president for its corporate trust group in South Carolina and the mid-Atlantic region.

Part of Marson's job is to expand Regions' trust business, said Kevin Kirby, president of Regions Corporate Trust.

"Kurt is replacing Leslie Whiddon, who left the business world to focus on raising her two young children," Kirby said in an e-mail. "Kurt will be our state manager for South Carolina and will also focus on growing Regions' market share in Virginia and the Carolinas."

Marson is a certified corporate trust specialist and a graduate of Florida State University. He most recently worked for Bank of New York Mellon Corp. in Jacksonville, and prior to that he worked at JPMorgan Institutional Trust Services, also in Jacksonville.

"I'm very excited to join a dynamic bank that is strongly committed to the corporate trust business," Marson said in a statement.

Regions is the fourth-largest municipal trustee bank in the country based on the latest Thomson Reuters rankings with 15 full-service offices in 11 states, Kirby said.

Regions Financial Corp. has nearly $140 billion in assets and serves customers in 16 states across the South, Midwest, and Texas. Its subsidiary, Regions Bank, operates 1,900 AmSouth and Regions banking offices. Its investment and securities brokerage, trust, and asset management division is provided by Morgan Keegan & Co.
