New EMMA features provide market trend info

WASHINGTON – Users of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board's EMMA website can now access two new triple-A callable yield curves at no cost for more market information, the MSRB announced Wednesday.

Bloomberg BVAL and IHS Markit are now available under EMMA’s “Tools and Resources” tab, along with the existing MBIS Municipal Bond Index and the S&P Municipal Bond Index. The MSRB said the tools bring value to its disclosure website.

“Yield curves, indices and other municipal market benchmarks can help investors and others assess broad market information about overall trends, the general level of interest rates and the value of any single security,” the MSRB said.

The announcement is the latest development of an initiative that the MSRB announced a year ago, when it first revealed that it would be adding the MBIS and S&P indices. The board said as far back as 2012 that it intended to make yield curves and indices available on EMMA.
