Naming Rights on the Block

The Broken Arrow City Council is considering selling the naming rights to a new bond-financed conference center after learning the $6.5 million allocated from a 2004 bond package won’t cover the project’s $14 million cost.

The council also directed the staff to look into selling the naming rights to rooms within the center to private sponsors.

The center is currently in design. Officials said land costs and other expenses are higher than anticipated when the bond package was put together in 2004.

The city’s general obligation bonds are rated A1 by Moody’s Investors Service and A-plus by Standard & Poor’s.
