NABE Survey Finds Conditions Are 'Worst'

The National Association for Business Economics’ survey of 105 member economists, conducted through Jan. 8, and released yesterday, “depicts the worst business conditions since the survey began in 1982, confirming that the U.S. recession deepened in the fourth quarter of 2008,” according to NABE’s Sara Johnson, an economist with IHS Global Insight.

And looking ahead to 2009, Johnson said more than half of NABE members expect real gross domestic product to fall by more than 1% this year, and only 3% project growth of over 1%.
