Milwaukee's financial advisor slot is up for grabs

CHICAGO – Milwaukee is conducting a competitive selection process for financial advisors.

Questions to the request for proposals solicitation are due by March 7 and final responses are due by March 22. The service term would run for three years beginning July 1 with an option to extend it five years.

“The Public Debt Commission of the city of Milwaukee seeks to engage a firm to provide financial advisory services relating to the issuance and management of the city’s debt,” documents say. Milwaukee comptroller Martin Matson’s office issues the city’s debt.

“The financial advisor will provide financial advice, assist disclosure counsel in the preparation of the preliminary and final official statement, distribution of POS/OS, support for public/private sales, and other services typically performed by a financial advisor in connection with the sale, issuance, and management of the city’s general obligation and certain revenue bonds,” the RFP continues.

Respondents will be judged on a point system based on experience and capabilities of the firm, experience and availability of the advisor team, official statement production, real-time pricing, post-sale trading review capabilities, marketing of city debt and ideas, overall quality of the proposal, and local and small business enterprise.
