Joan Wilson, municipal bond professional of 25 years, dies at 63

Joan Florence Wilson, a municipal bond veteran of over 25 years, passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington on Saturday. She was 63.

Ms. Wilson, who retired in 2003, started in the municipal bond industry in 1975 as a trader at the National Bank of North America. From there she went to JJ Kenny as a broker in 1983, and then jumped into sales at Adams McEntee, which was taken over by Fleet Bank. She ended up at The Bank of America after another merger, where she worked the rest of her career.

"Joan was a determined woman who rose through the ranks of the municipal bond business in the early 70’s through hard work, intelligence and a great sense of humor," Jerry Brennan, municipal bond evaluator at ICE, and his wife Elaine, who works at Roosevelt & Cross, said in a statement. Ms. Wilson introduced Brennan and his wife over 40 years ago.

"She leaves those who knew best her sad but glad she was able to reach those goals she set for herself, also becoming one of the few women who attained a level 3 certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers in London," they said in the statement. "We will raise a glass to you Joan for you brightened our lives."
