The U.S. import price index was down 6.7% in November, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics yesterday.
Thomson Reuters had predicted a 4.7% decrease for the imports index. The 6.7% decrease in the index followed a revised 5.4% decrease in import prices in October, originally reported as a 4.7% decrease.
Excluding petroleum, the import price index fell 1.8% in the month after an unrevised 0.9% slip in October. Excluding fuels, imports were down 1.8%.
Meanwhile, export prices slid 3.2%, after a revised 2.0% decrease in October, originally reported as a 1.9% decline.
