Import Prices Off 1.1%: Export Prices Rise 0.5%

The U.S. import price index was down 1.1% in January, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics yesterday.

Thomson Reuters had predicted a 1.4% decrease for the imports index. The 1.1% decrease in the index followed a revised 5.0% decrease in import prices in December. Meanwhile, export prices grew 0.5%, after a revised 2.2% decrease.
