Fitch Ratings Brings in Krop, Thein as Senior Directors

Fitch Ratings has hired Karen Krop and Eva Thein as senior directors, the agency announced earlier this week.

Krop has joined Fitch's state ratings group, and Thein will join its public finance health care group. Both started at Fitch on Monday.

Krop comes from TD Asset Management USA, where she worked as a vice president and director and established the firm's credit research department. She has also worked as an assistant vice president for Moody's Investors Service, where she was a senior rating analyst in the California, Northwest, and New York ratings groups.

Before Moody's, Krop worked for the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.

Thein comes to Fitch from MBIA Insurance Corp., where she worked for more than 20 years, most recently as a director in the enterprise finance group, specializing in health care. She also worked as a director in MBIA's insured portfolio management group and was a vice president in the underwriting division.

Before working at MBIA, she served as an assistant program manager at the New York State Medical Care Facilities Finance Agency. She has a bachelor's degree in economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a master's degree in health policy and management from Harvard University.
